Delicate hand-painted Japanese miniature dish in the Satsuma style, dating to the early Showa period (c. 1930s). The interior features a refined ink-style bamboo composition reminiscent of sumi-e brushwork, framed by a rich red and gold geometric border. The characteristic crackle glaze and warm aged tones further authenticate its vintage appeal.
The base is signed KOTOBUKI beneath a Shimazu family crest (a circle with a cross), a hallmark often used on export Satsuma-style ware in tribute to its heritage. Likely produced in a Kyoto-based workshop catering to Western markets while preserving traditional decorative themes.
Ideal for collectors of Japanese export ceramics, miniature Satsuma ware, or botanical art on porcelain.
