Charming miniature Japanese moriage vase dating to the early Showa period, circa 1930s. This hand-painted piece features two robed figures in a scenic outdoor setting, embellished with raised moriage enamel work and rich gilt highlights. The reverse side shows a stylised landscape with mountain silhouettes and gold-accented clouds.
The neck and base are finished in deep chocolate brown, with additional floral moriage decoration on the shoulder. The base is clearly marked “JAPAN”, indicating its production for export during the pre-WWII era. A lovely example of Japanese export porcelain with vibrant colour and fine raised detail, ideal for collectors of Japanese miniatures or moriage ware.
